Andrew was the winner in 1985 of the NSW Law Society Young Solicitor of the year for his essay on the Law of Confidential Information. He was also the Draftsman of the first Plant Variety Rights Agreement registered with the Australian Plant Variety Rights Office.

As a Solicitor he was engaged in the major cases of:

Smith Kline & French Laboratories v Secretary, Department of Community Services and Health (Law of Confidence; Constitutional Law)

 

Kodak (Australasia) Pty Ltd v Commonwealth (Sales Tax)


He also has a special interest in the Law of Confidential Information and Freedom of Information Law, and is joint author of "Freedom of Information: Balancing the Public Interest" (University College London, May 2006) - a book dealing with concepts of public interest in the Freedom of Information laws in the Commonwealth, New South Wales, Queensland, Canada (Federal, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta), the UK, Scotland, Ireland and New Zealand.
